PhD Position Studentship Biological and Medical Imaging-Germany
PhD position in the project “Fast semi-analytical acoustic inversion for quantitative optoacoustic tomography”
PhD Position Studentship Biological and Medical Imaging-Germany
The Chair for Biological Imaging at Technische Universität München is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates for a 3-year GSISH-funded PhD Studentship. Major focus of the project is the development of advanced imaging algorithms including multi-spectral real-time imaging. The resulting image reconstruction method is intended to significantly improve existing techniques.
Also part of the project is the demonstration of the new method with experimental phantoms and pre-clinical data. Due to the alliance of the chair with both the TUM Medical school / Klinikum Rechts der Isar and the department for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as the close association with the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging at Helmholtz Zentrum München the candidate has the chance to work in a highly interdisciplinary, multi-national team with numerous connections and contacts throughout the world.
Qualifications:
The applicant should have a technical degree (physics, engineering, computer science or related) and intend to obtain the Ph.D. degree within the scheduled time of 3 years. Theoretical and experimental experience with imaging and computational inversion algorithms is expected. Good programming skills are also required as well as high motivation and interest in performing data analysis and active participation in experimental work. Very good writing and communication skills in English are of advantage.
Our offer:
He/She will become part of the highly renowned TUM Graduate School of Information Science in Health (GSISH) and a student member of TUM, one of Germany’s first universities of excellence. The GSISH will actively assist the candidate in achieving a Ph.D. degree within the scheduled time of three years. The payment and the conditions of employment follow the specifications of TUM-GSISH scholarships.
Application Details:
Applications should include curriculum vita, certificates and transcript of BA/MA/Diplom or equivalent degree, summary of the previous work, letter of motivation, proof of fluency in English and names of 2 references. Please send your application within one pdf-document to ursula.muehle(at)tum.de.
