PhD Position in Computational Materials Science-Germany
A PhD Position in Computational Materials Science-Germany is available in the field of theoretical solid-state physics with focus on the electronic structure of correlated electron systems. The project consists in carrying out electronic-structure calculations for bulk and interfaces between semiconductors and half-metallic ferromagnets within the theoretical framework of Density Functional Theory (Local Density Approximation extended to include correlation captured by Dynamical Mean Field Theory – LDA+DMFT – method ).
The results of these calculations will be used as a starting point for numerical studies of spin-transport properties across these interfaces. The work is to be carried out at the University of Augsburg, Germany, Institute of Physics, Theoretical Physics III and Augsburg Center for Innovative Technologies (ACIT). The present position is limited for a period of three years, and the salary level corresponds to a 50% E13 TV-L. Candidates should have a Master degree in physics, mathematics, physical chemistry, materials science or a related field. Excellent academic grades and good practice in numerical methods especially in Fortran 90 or C++ is an advantage. Applications, including a CV should be sent by e-mail to Junior-Prof. Liviu Chioncel (liviu.chioncel@physik.uni-augsburg.de)
